Love it but broke September 7, 2010 Chander Aggarwal (Baltimore, MD United States) Love the lightwt, easy to use/clean design. I use it almost everyday on my hardwood floors. But had mine for about 2 yrs, and it just broke.....the plastic at the bottom broke and it's not usable anymore. But it has fallen many times, so I guess the breakage was inevitable. I am going to buy another one again though, b/c it was so great to use.
Great little tool September 6, 2010 Stephanie Callas Based on my experience with a Hoover Wind Tunnel canister vacuum (that I still have), I ventured to try this little tool. We recently took out all of our carpeting and installed laminate flooring throughout our home, so there is only occasional need for a large, powerful vacuum like the canister. Because we are owned by four furry cats, there are usually tumbleweeds blowing around the solid surface floors, which was why I wanted a smaller, handier tool for easier and more frequent clean ups. This corded vacuum is really outstanding for it's class. It has a beater bar for the occasional area rug, and great suction to pick up whatever may lie in it's path. (Pick up the mice and cat toys before vacuuming!) I opted for a corded model because my experience with rechargeable tools has not always been the best. We've had the vacuum for about two months now, and use it every few days. It works great, runs a little hot if you keep it going for extended periods, and the canister is easy to empty. The filter can even be washed if too much dirt accumulates on it. I recommend it to pet lovers of every ilk. A good value for the price, and of course Amazon shipped it quickly and without issue.
S2220 has a design problem September 4, 2010 Martt Harding We bought a Hoover S2220 with power nozzle about a year ago, and it worked fine for awhile although it is VERY noisy. You really need to wear ear plugs when using it. It's easy to maneuver, not overly heavy, cleans hard surfaces well and does a reasonable job on carpet. However, it has a couple design problems. First, the latch for the dust chamber broke. Pretty flimsy design. But a big rubber band around the body of the vacuum will hold the dust chamber in place, so no big problem, just an annoyance. However just recently, the black swiveling tube connecting the body of the vacuum to the power nozzle broke off. This makes the vacuum completely useless. The part is replaceable, but Hoover does not make it available. Instead they will be happy to sell you a complete new power nozzle for about $32. Trouble is, the part which broke is badly designed. It is overstressed when the machine is stored upright on its nozzle and a new power nozzle (unless redesigned) will fail in the same manner. I recommend you not buy this unit.
Perfect Vacuum August 28, 2010 JFP (USA) I have had this vacuum for over 7 years. I use it every week to vacuum my bathroom floors, kitchen linoleum and small sections of carpeting. Not once has the unit overheated, lost suction or "just quit working" as so many reviewers have stated.
The drive belt broke after four years of uninterrupted service (and then only because the suction pulled in the corner of an area rug and jammed the mechanism, which caused the belt to snap.)
I ordered a belt online and replaced it myself. Whoever stated that the machine is not user-serviceable is wrong. I've never had any trouble emptying the dust cup, and there are filters on each side that prevent dust from reentering the room.
This is a great machine for picking up pet hair, lint and dust. I'm at the point where I have worn out my original and am replacing it. I am also ordering one for my brother and one for my mother as well. Great vacuum!
Doesnt hold up August 27, 2010 ktranchina (Texas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I kept this vacuum in the upright postion most of the time. After many uses mainly on kitchen floor only the neck of the base area began to crack. After only 1 yr of use it broke off completely. I am not hard on my vacuums and have had the eureka smart boss for 4 years. I love that vacuum. Im going to try the eureka floor vac next for my kitchen. Do Not buy this item if you dont want to replace it year after year.
