 Poor quality item doesn't last past a few months September 7, 2010

I've had my old Dirt Devil vacuum for 12 years and it still works fine; however, with a long haired cat, I wanted something that would do even better. Initially it picked up okay, but wasn't any better than the old vacuum I bought in 1998. The Bissell is also very heavy and bulky to push around. It's not user friendly at all! I hate using it and it's a pain for maneuvering around corners or furniture.I've had this Bissell for about 8 months and it stopped working correctly two months ago. I clean and change the filters regularly, and I checked all the belts, etc..., but unfortunately, it no longer works. I can use the extensions, but the bottom vacuum stopped sucking. I went back to my Dirt Devil because the Bissell couldn't even pick up the bits of dirt that get tracked on the carpet let alone pet hair. In fact, it wasn't picking up anything! What a waste of money! This is very poor quality and I am going to buy another Dirt Devil. They are cheaper and last much, much longer. I will never recommend Bissell to anyone.

I would not recommend this item, it is heavy and suction is poor so cleaning performance is unsatisfactory. I could put my hand over the hose and feel very little suction even when it was new. Hose collapsed after 8 months and unit won't work without a new hose. I just purchased a Hoover it's much better. As to pet hair the hand held attachment works by suction so it doesn't work very well either. Get a Hoover wind tunnel if you want the bag less option.

I ordered this for my 25 yr old daughter who has two dogs. She wanted a Dyson, but after reading the reviews for this Bissell she decided to save some of my money and give it a try. She got it last week, and so far is totally pleased. She is vacuuming every day. I was a little concerned about the weight - some reviews said it was heavy - but even though she is very small, she says that it is very easy to move and use. I'm glad we decided to try it.

This vacuum does exactly what it said it would, very good suction and the pet feature really gets up pet hair. The only things about this vacuum that I don't like is that it is loud and somewhat heavy... thankfully I will not be using this one upstairs since I have two vacuums.

Save your self the hassle and do not waste your money! DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!!!! I was very taken in by all of the positive reviews on Amazon and thru Best Buy...however I find they are mostly bias!!!! This is the worst vacuum that I have ever purchased!!! It worked well for the first 2 or so months and then the height adjustment stopped working efficiently...I thought no big deal. However after that the beater brush(roller)stopped working efficiently as well. When you press the foot pedal to release the handle the roller motor turns off and only works manually!the customer service rep was very nice in reading from her script..however she pushed me off to a local vac shop..which of course told me they could do nothing until looking at it!! So please do not let the reviews fool you! BUY A HOOVER!!!!
